Cyber Security is the protection of computers or networks from any damage. The damage may be in any form such as hardware damage or theft, information disclosure, or data leak. It also ensures protection from the misdirection of the services that are being provided. Without a cybersecurity program, your organization cannot defend itself against data breach campaigns, making it an irresistible target for cybercriminals.

Cyber Security is one of the growing challenges for businesses around the world. Most companies do not have adequate cybersecurity practices, which makes them vulnerable to attacks. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of companies have shifted to work from home measures. This transition to remote workplaces made the companies more exposed to online threats and vulnerability. As people spend more time online nowadays, attackers are sensing plenty of opportunities to perform cyber attacks.

Impact of cybersecurity:

A lack of cybersecurity can damage your business in a range of ways such as:

  • Economic Cost: Theft of intellectual property, corporate information, disruption in trading, and the cost of repairing damaged systems.
  • Reputational Cost:Theft of intellectual property, corporate information, disruption in trading, and the cost of repairing damaged systems.
  • Regulatory Cost: GDPR and other data breach laws mean that your organization could suffer from regulatory fines or sanctions as a result of cybercrimes.

Why there is a demand for cybersecurity?

If you search the news today, you can find yet another company that is dealing with major data breaches. At least 500 data breaches happen every year and this keeps increasing. Because data breaches increase each year, it’s no wonder the demand for cybersecurity professionals is at an all-time high. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the number of cybersecurity jobs will increase 28 percent by 2021, creating tens of thousands of jobs for skilled analysts, managers, and administrators.

While the requirement is high for cybersecurity professionals, the supply is very low. When there is an imbalance between the requirement and supply, demand increases. Hence, it is no wonder that the demand for cybersecurity professionals always exists. If you’re looking for a job in cybersecurity, it shouldn’t be hard to find.

By the end of the decade, almost all companies are expected to include cybersecurity as one of their departments. If that is the case, the demand for cybersecurity is not going to decrease in the foreseeable future.
